We surveyed 1,056 YachtWorld users to see what insight they could offer on the boat buying process, and how it could be made easier. We asked them three questions:
- What users think of the boat buying process?
- What do they find most difficult about boat shopping?
- What would make the boat buying process easier?
Consumers have revealed to us the opportunities that exist to improve the boat buying experience, and increase trust between buyers and sellers. Over 40% of buyers feel they do not receive enough information in boat listings, and this prevents them from sending a lead. Out of 706 comments from consumers, 406 of them related to inaccurate or untrustworthy information in listings.
“When I find a listing with poor photos, I lose interest and move on to another”
In fact, 18% of all our consumer feedback related specifically to the poor quality and quantity of photos on listings.
“Listings are often optimistic, misleading or just outright lies”
“More thorough, complete listings would make shopping easier”
The data supports this. Boats with an introduction text of more than 300 words received 30% more leads than those with less. Boats with between 11 and 15 features selected in BoatWizard received 20% more leads than those boats with no features added. The more photos you add, the more leads you get. Adding video increases leads by 28%.
